Making a delicious dip from scratch doesn't need to be daunting. Here's how to make this creamy hummus in less than 5 minutes.

- Step 1: Combine all ingredients into the bowl of a food processor or high-speed blender and blend until it's a smooth texture, scraping down sides as needed.

- That's it! Garnish with lemon zest, fresh parsley, paprika, a drizzle of olive oil, and/or some flaky salt. Serve as a dip with veggies and pita chips or as a spread on sandwiches.
Serving Ideas
- Eat it as a healthy dip along with pita chips and fresh veggies like cucumber, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, and celery.
- Eat it on sourdough toast
- Add it to a buddha bowl for healthy fats and extra flavor.
- Spread it onto pita bread or the tortilla of a veggie wrap.
- Use it as a spread for any sandwich or veggie burger.
- Thin it out with some warm water to use as a salad dressing.
- Use it as a perfect addition to a charcuterie board.

Variations
Hummus comes in many different forms and flavors. To switch things up, you can try any of these options:
- Roasted Garlic - Roast the garlic wrapped in foil with some olive oil before making the hummus for a mild sweetness and more depth of flavor.
- Harissa - Add harissa paste.
- Roasted Red Pepper - Add a roasted and charred red bell pepper with the skin removed.
- Pesto - Add fresh basil, nutritional yeast, and maybe a little more lemon juice to taste.
- Chipotle - Add chipotle peppers in adobo sauce for a spicy hummus.
- Jalapeño - Add in fresh or pickled jalapeños.
- Sun-Dried Tomato - Add in canned sun-dried tomatoes.
- Spinach & Artichoke - Add in sautéed spinach and artichokes.
- Switch The Beans - You can also make hummus by using different beans like white beans or black beans instead of chickpeas.
- Dessert Hummus - You can also make sweet hummus instead of savory hummus. Remove the garlic, cumin, olive oil, and lemon then add in things like chocolate/cocoa powder, nondairy milk, maple syrup, vanilla, and nut butters. You can even replace the tahini with peanut butter for a chocolate peanut butter hummus if you'd like. The options are endless!
Is Hummus Healthy?
Yes! If you've looked into healthy eating, you'll know that the Mediterranean diet is considered the healthiest diet.
Hummus comes from Mediterranean cuisine and provides healthy unsaturated fats from the tahini and olive oil, as well as some protein and fiber from the chickpeas. When you add in raw veggies for serving, you're getting even more fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals.

Equipment
One of my favorite kitchen appliances of all time is my Cuisinart 14-cup food processor. It's a little pricey, but it'll last forever and it can make all kinds of things! I've been watching a ton of Martha Stewart videos lately, and she uses the same one, which speaks for itself if you ask me! See my process photos above to check it out.
Storage
Store leftover hummus in the fridge for 3-5 days in an airtight container. I love these glass meal prep containers from Amazon. I have several sets and use them for everything.
I've never tried freezing hummus, but I don't see why you couldn't. It would last 1-3 months or longer. Put it in the fridge the day before to let it thaw, then you'll need to give it a good stir before serving. Make sure to leave out the toppings until you unthaw and serve it.
