If you’ve been on the hunt for the perfect homemade vegan mayonnaise to substitute the real thing, you’re in luck. This easy vegan mayo is thick, tangy, and made with simple ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. Best of all? You don’t need egg yolks, silken tofu, or a can of chickpeas to get that creamy texture.

Store-bought mayo often contains preservatives, refined oils, and sometimes hidden animal products. Making your own mayo allows you to control the ingredients and tailor the taste. Plus, it’s budget-friendly and easy to whip up in a couple of minutes using just an immersion blender and a wide mouth mason jar.
There's other types of vegan mayos out there like aquafaba mayo with the liquid from a can of chickpeas, cashew mayo, or ones with a soft tofu base. But this one is easy, perfectly creamy, and sure to be accepted by both vegans and meat eaters alike.
If you don't have a mason jar, you could reuse an old peanut butter jar (like I did in the photos) or any other wide-mouth jar. It's thrifty, it's useful, it's cute, it's all the things.

Ingredients You'll Need
Here's what you'll need:

- unsweetened soy milk (If you don’t have soy milk, almond milk, oat milk, or other plant-based milk options may work, but unsweetened soy milk offers the most reliable emulsion - and it adds a little extra protein to your mayo!)
- avocado oil (you can also use canola oil if you prefer a more budget-friendly homemade mayo)
- dijon mustard (this acts as our emulsifier!)
- apple cider vinegar
- salt
That's it! It couldn't be more simple. See recipe card for quantities.
How to Make Homemade Vegan Mayo
Making mayo at home is one of the easiest things to make.

- Add all the ingredients to a wide mouth mason jar (you can also use a high-speed blender or food processor if you don't have an immersion blender).

- Start blending from the bottom and slowly lift the immersion blender to incorporate everything. You'll see the mixture thicken into a luscious, creamy sauce. It's already in the jar to be stored (you don't even need a separate airtight container) so just pop that lid right on and store it in the fridge for 7-10 days.
Ways to Use Your Vegan Mayo
This versatile vegan mayonnaise recipe is perfect for spreading, dipping, and mixing into vegan potato salad, vegan tuna salad, vegan egg salad, or even vegan ranch dressing. It also pairs beautifully with french fries, in a sandwich, or as a base for countless salad dressings.

Aiolis and Other Easy Sauces You Can Make with This Vegan Mayo
One of the best parts of having creamy vegan mayo on hand is how easy it is to transform it into a variety of flavorful sauces and aiolis. Here are some delicious ideas to inspire your next meal:
1. Garlic Aioli

2. Spicy Chipotle Mayo
Blend in chipotle powder, smoked paprika, and a drizzle of maple syrup for a smoky, spicy sauce that’s great with tacos, veggie burgers, or vegan tuna salad. You could even blend a chipotle pepper in adobo sauce into it if you'd like!
3. Herb Mayo
Add finely chopped fresh herbs like dill, parsley, or basil along with a touch of lemon juice. This makes a light, herby dressing for vegan potato salad or grilled veggies.
4. Sriracha Aioli
Combine vegan mayo with sriracha for a quick and easy creamy sauce with a kick. It’s a great dip for tempura, veggie burgers, sushi rolls, or roasted cauliflower.
5. Lemon-Dill Dressing
Whisk together mayo, lemon juice, white wine vinegar, and fresh dill to make a bright, tangy dressing for vegan egg salad or your favorite salad greens.
6. Ranch-Style Sauce
Make your own vegan ranch dressing by stirring in onion powder, garlic powder, dried dill, and a splash of plant-based milk like almond milk or oat milk. Ideal for dipping veggies or drizzling over wraps.
7. Avocado Cilantro Crema
Blend your vegan mayo with ripe avocado, fresh cilantro, lemon or lime juice, and a pinch of sea salt for a vibrant, creamy sauce. Use it on tacos, grain bowls, or as a dip for veggies.
8. Honey Mustard Sauce (Vegan Style)
